2020-6-1 · Concrete that has been hardened onto imbedded metal (usually steel) is called reinforced concrete, or ferroconcrete. Its invention is usually attributed to Joseph Monier, a Parisian gardener who made garden pots and tubs of concrete reinforced with iron mesh; he received a patent in 1867.The reinforcing steel, which may take the form of rods, bars, or mesh, contributes tensile strength.
2019-8-31 · Bacterial Concrete or Self-Healing Concrete (SHC) is a modern approach in civil engineering for repair purpose. As the name suggests, this type of concrete can heal itself when cracks appear after curing and hardening. In this article, I will discuss it’s brief history, mechanism, production, advantages, disadvantages and some other aspects.
2020-7-9 · Processing and netshape forming of a nonconventional concrete material must at least emulate the capabilities of current concrete materials as well as exceed them in as many areas as possible (Table 1–2). The following goals should be given high priority in the design of a “new improved concrete”:
2020-7-20 · Concrete is a construction material composed of cement, fine aggregate (sand) and coarse aggregate mixed with water which hardens with time. Portland cement is the mostly used type of cement for production of concrete.

Concrete creep plays a significant role in the long-term performance of the prestressed concrete structure. However, most of the existing prediction models cannot accurately reflect the in-site concrete creep in a bridge construction environment. To improve the prediction accuracy of creep effects in concrete structures, an innovative creep analysis method is developed in this study.
An effort has been made to develop concrete compressive strength prediction models with the help of two emerging data mining techniques, namely, Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Genetic Programming (GP). The data for analysis and model development was collected at 28-, 56-, and 91-day curing periods through experiments conducted in the laboratory under standard controlled conditions.
